Digitate warts or filiform warts look like long threads of fingers sticking out from the surface of the skin on the face, mouth, eyes and nose areas. They are fairly rapid in growth and they can spread quickly. Many who have them ask their doctors how to get rid of digitate warts without having to go through surgery.
If the body’s immune system is not compromised like those who are diagnosed with HIV, then the body should just easily overwhelm the virus and warts just disappear on their own. In cases where children have warts, the doctors usually wait for a while to see if the body rejects warts on its own or warts become stubborn.
If warts become stubborn, then there are certain methods which can answer the question of how to get rid of digitate warts. The methods vary depending on the type of warts, the severity and the location of the growth. If a dermatologist sees that treatments are needed, they can prescribe the following:
- Electrosurgery and curettage
- Laser treatment
- Chemical peels
Now, the costs of each type of treatment again would depend on the number of warts to be removed, and the location.
Usually, if the warts are not that stubborn, the dermatologist would just use Cantharidin paint but if there is a need for cryotherapy, this can be more expensive.
Both are effective and burn away warts effectively where after a week or two, the dermatologist simply scrapes off the dead tissues.
If the warts are harder to treat and numerous, the dermatologist can resort to laser treatments, chemicals peels, and immunotherapy. These are a bit more expensive, but they are effective against stubborn digitate warts and genital warts.
However, they are not cures for the sexually transmitted warts; they are just supportive and take out the physical symptoms.
